The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) through the leadership of Gov. Carlos M. Padilla conducted an orientation, MOA signing and awarding of books/uniforms and living allowance to the 3rd batch of scholars of the NV “SAGUT” Scholarship Program on November 26, 2020 at People’s Stage, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
The program which was launched in 2018 was approved by the Provincial Board through an ordinance that seeks to offer educational assistance to poor but worthy students in the province.
An additional of seventy-five (75) students coming from the indigent families were granted a 4-year college scholarship at Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU).
Engr. Maria Jonem P. Gacad, the Provincial Scholarship Program Coordinator, clarified the responsibilities and accountabilities of being a scholar. The students need to comply with the grade requirement at all times. She further explained that the scholar shall have an annual weighted average of 83% or 2.25 or better on the first year, and a semestral weighted average of 83% or better on the second year with no failing grade in any academic subject for all semesters or summer term. Meanwhile, on the third, fourth, and fifth years, the scholar shall have passing grades in all academic subjects provided that awardee take the regular load per semester and complete the course within its prescribed period.
“The scholarship program started because Gov. Padilla believed that if at least one member of a poor family becomes a degree holder, it will be an opportunity for the whole family to rise from poverty,” Engr. Gacad shared.#cbr
