NVPJ Commended for Facilities, Services

The Flag Raising Ceremony on January 19, 2026, was sponsored by the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Jail (NVPJ), led by Warden SFO4 Carmelo B. Andrada and held at the Peoples’ Stage, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The recent achievements and ongoing progress of the NVPJ was detailed through a speech by Warden Andrada.

For the fifth year running, the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Jail was named Outstanding Provincial Jail at the Provincial Jail Wardens Association Awards, also earning commendations for Cleanest Provincial Jail, Best Livelihood Program, Outstanding Employees, Child-Friendly Jail, among others. Warden Andrada also earned the Outstanding Provincial Jail Warden of the Philippines award.

The NVPJ currently houses more than 70 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in a facility that can hold 150 at a time. The recently commended Livelihood program was emphasized, with the craftsmanship projects in their Livelihood program enabling the residents to provide for their families within the confines of the facility.

The NVPJ also sustains its education and spiritual enrichment for the PDLs under its care. Warden Andrada expressed gratitude to the various spiritual groups who had volunteered at the NVPJ, while also reaffirming their commitment to rehabilitation and community reconnection for the PDLs in the NVPJ. The education program also ensured higher educational attainment for the PDLs.

The warden also highlighted the importance of collaboration among the many agencies of the provincial government for the betterment of the residents, especially the Provincial Integrated Health Office for their provision of health services. Alongside this, of the province’s 275 barangays, the NVPJ had managed to provide services to 176 in the form of outreach programs and seminars.

The NVPJ continues to be a highlight of the provincial government’s commitment to Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito’s vision of governance that puts the constituency first. The NVPJ has sustained its accolades with its emphasis on the livelihood and wellbeing of the PDLs under its care. /igmb
