NVDRRM Council Urges Funding for Uwan Recovery

During its 1st Quarter Meeting on March 31, 2026, the NVDRRM Council discussed at length the Super Typhoon Uwan Rehabilitation and Recovery plan, after the presentation of the Terminal Report detailing the total damages incurred by ST Uwan in November 2025.

Through the report, PDRRMO detailed 46, 252 families or 168, 636 individuals affected, with an estimated amount of ₱3,947,011,705.07 in damages, 63.95% of which were to the agricultural sector. The proposed Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan include an investment plan of PHP 107 billion, subdivided into livelihood and business development, agriculture and fisheries, housing and settlement, and physical infrastructure.

The Local DRRM Financial Investment Plan, amounting to PHP 250 billion, was also reported on for the information of the council. Concerns were raised by the council re: utilization, specific programs, projects, and activities, and timelines for the Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan. The PDRRMO clarified areas of concern such as sections of the Local DRRM Financial Investment Plan, also endorsing the resolutions by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery Joint Clusters meeting held the previous day. These resolutions were duly approved by the council on the basis of the reports given by the PDRRMO.

Through hard work, due process, and accountability at every turn, rehabilitation and recovery from adverse weather events, and present safety and security is maintained by the NVDRRMO and PDRRMO in the province. /igmb
