The Provincial Tourism Council, through the leadership of Chairperson Ruth R. Padilla, and the Nueva Vizcaya Council for Culture and Arts, led by BM Eunice Galima-Gambol, conducted a joint 2nd Quarter Meeting on May 28, 2026.
The PTCO presented to the body two upcoming awards ceremonies concerning Nueva Vizcaya: the Dayaw 1st Regional Tourism Excellence Awards and the Gawad Carlos Padilla 2026. The former is the first of its kind to be conducted for Region 2, with its nomination period lasting until May 25, 2026, and the ceremony itself to take place on September 25, 2026.
The Gawad Carlos Padilla 2026 was created by the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino, intended to recognize lawmakers for their promulgation of Filipino languages. Chairperson Ruth Padilla informed the body that the nomination period for this award would last until June 8, 2026, with the ceremony itself to take place in August 2026 in the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center.
In their efforts to renew their Seal of Good Local Governance for the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, the PTCO and the councils acted under the directive of the Provincial Administrator’s Office to formulate a policy for the burgeoning film industry in the province. The councils were fully informed of the recent workings in this area, which included the Nueva Vizcaya Film Festival and other municipal government units’ strides in creating an ordinance.
The member organizations of the council such as the Nueva Vizcaya Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Owners Association, the Nueva Vizcaya Farm Tourism Stakeholders Association, and the Nueva Vizcaya Tour Guides Association requested support from the council in their endeavors, including reaccreditation, financial backing for proposed activities, and legislative assistance. With such support, the organizations stated their intentions to further tourism in the province through education, training, and recognition by the relevant agencies.
Through the extensive dialogue and discussion among the members of the council, the advancement of the province as a tourism destination continues to stride forward. /igmb
