NV Nutrition Commended by Regional Office

On July 17, 2026, the Nutrition Division of the Governor’s Office with the Regional Evaluation Team conducted the Provincial Nutrition Council Exit Feedbacking in the Paniqui Hall of the Executive Building, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The Exit Conference is the culmination of the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation of the Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and the Regional Search for Outstanding Local Nutrition Frontline Personnel (LNFP), which are the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Local Nutrition Action Officers, and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators.

The monitoring and evaluation processes included the verification of collected data by the provincial and municipal offices on nutrition, as well as graded interviews for the scholars, action officers, and program coordinators. According to the regional evaluators, the processes were not merely for counting victories and disputes, but to identify gaps and to find ways forward.

The regional team stated that the score for nutrition in Nueva Vizcaya was overall high, citing commendable implementation of projects and integration of nutrition programs into the provincial annual investment plans. The regional representatives also cited such initiatives as Dupax del Sur’s ‘Alkansya ni Nanay’ and Villaverde’s support to breastfeeding.

Nueva Vizcaya was also recognized for being one of the only provinces to have a provincial nutrition action plan, as well as a municipal offshoot. Villaverde also carries the distinction of being the only municipality in Luzon to be included in the Compendium on Local Ordinances on Nutrition.

While the evaluated municipalities gained satisfactory ratings in most areas, the regional evaluators identified areas for improvement such as knowledge dissemination on nutrition laws and policies, better attendance on the part of nutrition council members to meetings, reorientation for council members on nutrition in the province, and an omnibus resolution for adapting nutrition guidelines in the municipalities.

Provincial Integrated Health Officer Dr. Anthony Cortez, representing Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, stated that what distinction may be won by the province during the evaluation was garnered through hard work, and will be the pride of Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
