Barangay officials gathered this afternoon, January 21, 2022, at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center, Provincial Capitol, for the distribution of their financial assistance led by Governor Carlos M. Padilla.
Asst. Provincial Treasurer Lorena S. Castillo said, “Each of the barangays were to receive a check in the amount of P50,000.00 representing the mandatory financial aid of P1,000.00 and P49,000.00 from the Barangay Development Assistance Fund (BDAF) of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV).”
According to DBM rules, the P1,000.00 aid per barangay may be increased subject to the discretion and availability of funds of the province. A barangay is also entitled to receive voluntary donations, grants, or aids from any public or private entity.
Governor Padilla likewise handed over during the occasion three checks totaling P7,981,644.56 to key officers of the NUVELCO led by OIC General Manager Clarita O. Gines for the proposed electrification of far-flung barangays in the municipalities of Alfonso Castañeda, Bagabag, Diadi, Dupax del Sur, Quezon, and Solano.
This is in pursuance of the (R)ural Electrification and Development component of the PRAYERS N FAITH platform of public administration and governance of the PGNV, which draws funding support from energy companies operating in the province, namely: CE Casecnan Water and Energy Company Inc.; First Gen Hydro Power Corporation; SN Aboitiz Power-Magat, Inc.; and Smith Bell Mini-Hydro Corporation.
Asst. Provincial Accountant Renato G. Guntalilib said, “Aside from the P49,000.00, the PGNV is also granting even higher amounts that are requested by the Barangay officials for their qualified priority projects, all of which need to be supported by project proposals and programs of work, and are subject to liquidation under COA and DBM rules and regulations.”
Also gracing the event were former Vice Governor Epifanio Lambert D. Galima, Jr., along with her daughter, Board Member Eunice Galima Gambol, Board Member-Asst. Floor Leader Flodemonte S. Gerdan, and Ex Officio Board Member-Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President Victor B. Gines.
