Nueva Vizcaya Honors Top Cooperatives in Inaugural Governor’s Sustainability Awards

The Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development (PROCEDE) Office recognized outstanding local cooperatives during the first-ever Governor’s Sustainability Awards, held on July 13, 2026, during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the People’s Stage, Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The event celebrated cooperatives that demonstrated excellence, innovation, and resilience amid rising costs of fuel, electricity, transport, and other operational expenses. It aligns with Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito’s push for energy conservation, as well as national directives under Executive Order No. 110 declaring a national energy emergency caused by global supply disruptions.

Ms. Imelda B. Yaban, Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist, extended warm greetings to Governor Gambito, Vice Governor Eufemia Dacayo, provincial board members, department heads, guests, and cooperative leaders. She emphasized that the awards also affirm cooperatives’ vital role in inclusive growth, food security, and community development—especially as the world marks the International Year of Cooperatives.

Provincial officials led the awarding of trophies, certificates, and cash prizes. Each winning cooperative received a Plaque of Recognition, a Certificate of Recognition, and a cash reward, with Midlanders Multi-Purpose Cooperative, represented by Ms. Gladys P. Kimmayong, receiving the Champion award and ₱20,000; Nueva Vizcaya Alay Kapwa Multi-Purpose Cooperative, represented by Ms. Juvy Hernandez, earning the 1st Runner-Up award and ₱12,000; and Saint Vincent Parish Multi-Purpose Cooperative, represented by its Chairman Noel Amador, receiving the 2nd Runner-Up award and ₱10,000.

In closing, the organizers noted that these victories prove that unity, compassion, innovation, and sound management keep cooperatives strong and thriving despite challenges. Provincial Cooperative Affairs Officer Juditte L. Asuncion shared that the program would become an annual tradition to promote sustainable practices and further strengthen the cooperative sector as a key partner in Nueva Vizcaya’s development. /mvs
