Sec Dar tentatively approves NV project proposals

Dr. William D. Dar, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA), was the guest of honor of the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT), Inc. during its Christmas Program and 18th Founding Anniversary cum Farmers’ Forum held on 13 December in Almaguer, Bambang.

In his speech, Secretary Dar declared the DA’s major development programs and projects that will benefit the province, including the “Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo” (4K) program that was presented by Dr. Jose B. Tamani, and emphasized as well the line agency’s strategies in addressing the predicament of local farmers and hog growers vis-a-vis the adverse effects brought about by the Rice Tariffication Act and African Swine Fever.

In the ensuing open forum, the DA Secretary gave quick positive responses to certain project proposals raised from the floor, though he stressed the need for further validation of the proposals and compliance with the usual counterparting scheme, as a matter of policy.

Also gracing the occasion were Governor Carlos M. Padilla and his wife, former Governor Ruth R. Padilla, along with Miss Saniata 2019 Nicole Jane I. Gimarino, and officials of the DA’s Region 02 Office and Municipality of Bambang headed by Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo and Mayor Pepito D. Balgos, respectively.

The farmer-led NVAT is engaged in trading of agricultural and non-agricultural products and services of Nueva Vizcaya and its adjoining provinces. Its main objective is to help farmers get the best price for their products.#jlc
