BFP-NV trains internees anew

Seventy-five Bachelor of Science in Criminology students from the PLT College commenced their on-the-job training on November 09, 2022 at the Bureau of Fire Protection – Nueva Vizcaya Office (BFP-NV), Provincial Capitol.

Provincial Fire Marshall Supt. Allan M. Eballar explained that this latest batch of interns will be undergoing, as usual, a five-day training at their office where they shall be oriented on basic firefighting and lifesaving procedures that include, among others: Carrying of ladders; Hose throwing, connection, laying, folding, and recovery; First aid and bandaging techniques; Emergency rescue and transfer; and Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Thereafter, they will be split into three groups, each with 25 trainees, for their completion of the 22-day BFP internship training program. One group will remain with the provincial office, while the other groups will be endorsed to the satellite offices in Solano and Bayombong.

Training components that are better taught outdoors will be undertaken at the Lower Magat Ecotourism (LMET) Park in Diadi, such as water search and rescue operations.

According to PFM Eballar, this collaborative program with the academe is part of the BFP-NV strategies to realize its goals of increasing awareness among our people of the agency’s mandates and services, while, at the same time, broadening the base of possible firefighting volunteers.

“Also among our priority concerns are the continuing enhancement of the capabilities of our workforce and logistics, and intensification of our IEC drive”, he added.

PFM Eballar officially took the helm of the 18-man BFP-NV on October 17, 2022, by virtue of BFP Special Order No. REA-2022-220, dated October 10, 2022, which was relayed to the Office of Governor Carlos M. Padilla, and Public Affairs and Information Assistance Division on November 2 and 4, 2022, respectively.
