To address the needs of the Persons with Disability (PWD) sector, the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV), under the guidance of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, through the Governor’s Office-Persons with Disability Affairs Office led by Ms. Venus R. Cadabona, Disability Affairs Officer III, held the 4th quarter meeting of the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs (PCDA). The event took place on November 23, 2023, at the Ituy Function Hall, Main Building, Provincial Capitol.

Governor Gambito, who also serves as the Chairperson of the PCDA, emphasized the importance of providing assistance and guidance to the PWD sector, recognizing it as one of the marginalized sectors deserving of utmost attention. He urged the attendees to unite their efforts, stressing that collective action is vital in ensuring that the PWD sector receives the support it needs.

Highlighting the event was the finalization of the 3-year Sectoral Plan (2024-2026). This comprehensive plan serves as a roadmap for addressing the unique challenges and needs of the PWD community in the province. The collaborative effort involved various PGNV Offices, and line agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and all members of the PCDA, including its Co-Chairperson, Board Member Eunice Galima-Gambol.

The involvement of key government agencies underscores the commitment to a holistic and inclusive approach to addressing the concerns of the PWD sector. By actively engaging with these agencies, the PCDA ensures that the 3-year Sectoral Plan is well-rounded, encompassing aspects such as accessibility, employment, and economic empowerment for PWDs.

Governor Gambito’s call for unity resonated throughout the meeting, reflecting a shared commitment to creating an environment where every member of the community, regardless of ability, can thrive and contribute meaningfully. The collaborative efforts showcased during this meeting are indicative of a province dedicated to fostering inclusivity and championing the rights and well-being of its PWD constituents.

As the finalized 3-year Sectoral Plan sets the course for 2024-2026, it not only represents a strategic roadmap but also symbolizes a promise to build a more accessible, equitable, and supportive community for PWDs in the province. The commitment expressed in this meeting reflects a significant step in the journey toward a more inclusive and compassionate province.

The meeting served as a testament to the PGNV’s commitment to prioritizing disability affairs and ensuring that the PWD sector receives the attention and support it deserves. As the council moves forward with its 3-year Sectoral Plan, it is expected that the PWD sector will see significant improvements in the quality of support and services they receive. #mvs
