Governor Gambito inspects ongoing infrastructure projects at NVPH

Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing infrastructure projects at the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital. Accompanied by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anthony Cortez, Dr. Arlyn Jara, Chief of Hospital at NVPH, and Engr. Franz Yoshiy, from the Provincial Engineering Office, assessed the progress of various crucial developments.

One of the highlights of the inspection was the construction of the Medical Arts Building, which is being funded through the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health. The project is being implemented in three phases with a total budget of 250 million pesos. Governor Gambito expressed his satisfaction with the progress made and emphasized the importance of this facility in providing enhanced healthcare services to the community.

Additionally, the governor also visited the construction site of the Charity Ward Building, which is being funded by the provincial government. Expected to be completed by January 2024, this project aims to expand the hospital’s capacity to serve those in need.

During the inspection, Gov. Gambito also took the opportunity to visit the CT Scan Center at NVPH. The governor expressed his commitment to improving healthcare services in the province, stating that the provincial government, through the Provincial Engineering Office, has already completed the construction of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. This facility, a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will significantly contribute to the province’s pandemic efforts by expediting COVID-19 testing. The laboratory will be responsible for conducting molecular diagnostic tests, specifically the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test, to detect active infections.

Gov. Gambito emphasized the importance of health governance as a means and an end of development. He pledged to allocate more funds further to improve health services for the people of Nueva Vizcaya. As part of these efforts, the provincial government has allocated funds for additional dialysis machines at NVPH and at the Dupax District Hospital. Furthermore, the government is anticipating the release of funds from the national government, through the office of Senator Jayvee Ejercito, for the improvement of the NVPH Emergency Building. This project includes the construction of a two-story emergency ward, lobby, and offices, as well as enhancing the hospital facade to create a more welcoming and efficient healthcare environment.

Governor Gambito also stressed that while infrastructure development is essential, it would be rendered meaningless if the treatment provided by hospital personnel, such as nurses and doctors, is not of high quality. He called on medical staff to exhibit compassion and provide tender loving care to patients, as it plays a crucial role in their recovery process.

The ongoing infrastructure projects at Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital, coupled with the governor’s commitment to improving healthcare services, reflect the province’s dedication to the well-being of its residents. As these projects are near completion, the people of Nueva Vizcaya can look forward to enhanced healthcare facilities and services that will cater to their needs effectively. /rmi/ (Photos from Gov.
