GO-PDAD Aids MLGUs, Strengthens Disability Access

The Persons with Disability Affairs Division of the Governor’s Office (GO-PDAD) extolled their achievements for 2025 and the first semester of 2026 during the Flag Raising Ceremony jointly hosted by their office with the Nutrition Division.

The GO-PDAD had recently concluded their celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week, which included educational activities such as Filipino Sign Language training for parents and the Disability-Inclusive Disaster Preparedness Training for municipal disability affairs officers, the persons with disabilities bazaar for municipal local government units and the product exhibition and trade fair during the Schools Division Project BEST, a collaboration between GO-PDAD and the Department of Education.

At least 40 PWDs have received prosthetic devices from the provincial government in a distribution conducted in August 2025, with 17 more set to benefit in the second semester of 2026. PWDs with hearing impairments are also set to receive funding for assistive devices with assistance from the provincial government, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) team, and the Office of the President.

Through the provision of technical assistance and trainings, the GO-PDAD had ‘strengthened partnerships’ with MLGUs, other national agencies such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), etc., and private stakeholders, as well as ensuring accessibility compliance across government offices and infrastructure through their taskforce. This latter component is a determiner in the attainment of the Seal of Good Local Governance.

The GO-PDAD also engages in policy-making and bolstering PWD rights. The distribution of disability aids was made possible through the GO-PDAD’s hearing aid program, as well as contributing to the Philippine Registry of Persons with Disabilities, ‘a comprehensive database’ on registered PWDs in the country.

Beyond the continued monitoring and evaluation of accessibility compliance among MLGUs, the GO-PDAD has also provided government aid and support to PWDs through their policies and programs, continuing the advocation for inclusivity in Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
