Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, along with Vice Governor Eufemia A. Dacayo and Board Members, municipal officials, and Congressman Timothy Joseph Cayton, welcomed Secretary Rex T. Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who visited the province at the CMP Convention Center, Capitol on August 28, 2025.
The visit was part of the DSWD’s strengthened drive to improve the quality and delivery of services to the most vulnerable sectors of society. “This is in line with President Marcos’s directive that the smaller and farther the barangay, the greater the assistance from the national government,” Secretary Gatchalian said. Gatchalian also praised the leadership of the province’s top 3 officials, saying he admired their teamwork and dedication in serving the people.
“I do not have much to say, but I want to express on behalf of the 500,000 people of the province how thankful we are for you visit, as well as for your support and assistance. We are truly grateful for your help,” Governor Gambito said.
Before the Secretary’s visit at the Capitol, Sec. Gatchalian had breakfast with some 4Ps beneficiaries at Jollibee Bayombong and listened to their concerns and reaffirmed the government’s commitment in improving their lives. He then later proceeded to Sitio Labbi in Tiblac, Ambaguio for the inauguration of the 8 KALAHI-CIDSS sub-projects of the DSWD.
After the meeting with the provincial officials, Sec. Gatchalian continued his mission in Bambang for the pay-out of SLP to 6 associations with 156 beneficiaries. He also visited a KALAHI-CIDSS Sub-project in Barangay Kirang, Aritao.
This visit signifies further progress in strengthening cooperation between the national government and local agencies in fighting poverty. Sec. Gatchalian expressed hope that with continued collaboration, the province will see improvements in health, education, and livelihoods for 4Ps beneficiaries in the years ahead. /jmcb/bgl
