DOTr holds press conference on new licensing law

The Nueva Vizcaya District Office of the Land Transportation Office, Department of Transportation (LTO-DOTr), headed by District Office Chief Marietta M. Flores, holds a press conference dubbed “Capacity Building on the Implementation of Republic Act No. 10930”, today, November 8, 2021, here at the 24/7 Hotel-Resort, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

The flow of presentation and discussions put emphasis on the impending implementation in the Valley of the 10-year validity period of driver’s license, particularly on the various mandated policy changes and new regulatory requirements, which include Drivers’ Education Program (DEP), Comprehensive Drivers’ Education (CDE), Drivers’ Re-orientation Course, and other basic LTO-DOTr interventions.

Spearheading the day’s activity is their Regional Director Romeo Solomon Sergio A. Sales who came all the way from Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Also joining the local LTO-DOTr team are Mr. Froilan R. Camero, OIC of the agency’s Aritao Extension Office, and OIC ARD/Chief Administrative Officer Manuel C. Baricaua, the conference’s lead resource person.

Media personalities of the province from both the government and private sectors were invited to interact with the Team that is tasked to undertake an information drive using all available communication platforms in order to effectively inform and educate the general public on RA 10930, otherwise known as “The Law on the Rationalization and Strengthening of the Issuance of Driver’s License”.

Representing the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya is Board Member Flodemonte S. Gerdan, Chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Committee on Transportation and Communication.

Citing his experiences and observations on IEC campaigns in the province, BM Gerdan suggested more massive use of simplified flyers and closer coordination with grassroots leaders.

Stressing the critical role of local information officers and media people, OIC ARD Baricaua said, “We appeal to our partners in the media sector to please help us in our agency’s IEC campaign, especially during this difficult time.”
