On November 5, 2025, the Department of Interior and Local Government in Nueva Vizcaya (DILG NV) conducted a ceremonial turnover of building materials to the beneficiaries of their “Kwarto ni Neneng” project in Barangay Runruno, Quezon, carried out in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO). This marked the official launch of the initiative, with a second ceremony conducted the following day in Barangay Ganao, Dupax del Sur.
The Kwarto ni Neneng project intends to address space scarcity in housing for rural families. According to DILG representative James Liggayu, the materials will go toward an extension of houses with a disparity between available space and number of occupants, especially for women and children in vulnerable situations. Four families from the municipalities of Quezon and Dupax del Sur were duly identified by the PSWDO, with the PEO procuring the materials.
The ceremonial turnovers took place in the Barangay Halls of Runruno and Ganao with representatives from the municipal government units, PEO, PSWDO, and DILG. Susan Dyte of the PSWDO expressed her gratitude to the DILG for entrusting the PGNV with this project, as well as expressing hope that it will have the intended consequences for the families benefiting from the project.
The continued partnership between national agencies and the provincial government is vital in addressing grassroots rural issues from livelihood to quality of life and wellbeing. Initiatives such as these not only recognize these issues, but actively seeks remedies for the betterment of the people of Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
