DOLE pays TUPAD workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, through its Public Employment Services Division (PESD) under the Office of Governor Carlos M. Padilla, held a payout activity on October 28 at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center, Provincial Capitol, Bayombong.

Participating in the event, facilitated by representatives of the DOLE, along with PESD staff headed by Acting PESD Officer Dolly Rose C. Minas, were 87 TUPAD Program beneficiaries from the different municipalities of the province.

Ms. Minas said that each beneficiary was paid an amount of P5,550 as compensation for a 15-day work. “Their other benefits include, basic orientation on safety and health, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of t-shirt and hat, enrolment in group micro-insurance with the GSIS, and a chance to avail of skills training to prepare them for self or wage employment after the project.”, she added.

A beneficiary who was grateful and appreciative of the joint DOLE-PGNV program said, “Malaking tulong po ang programa na ito sa aming pamilya lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya na halos walang makitang bakanteng trabaho, o sapat na pagkakakitaan.”

The TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance of the DOLE, in partnership with local governments and other program sponsors, which provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed, such as those pertaining to social, economic and agro-forestry projects of the government.
