The Nueva Vizcaya Council for Culture and the Arts conducted their 1st Quarter Meeting on February 10, 2026, in the Provincial Treasury Function, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Council Chair Hon. Eunice Galima-Gambol facilitated the proceedings, with Provincial Tourism Officer Marichelle O. Costales and several representatives from the member organizations in attendance.
The agenda included a full rundown on the contests and activities for the National Arts Month celebration in the province, the detailing of the full calendar of activities for the Grand Ammungan Festival 2026, a report on the previous visit of the National Library of the Philippines, among other matters. National Arts Month is observed every February, with the PTCO’s program extending from February 20 to February 27.
For the Grand Ammungan Festival, Director-General Gambol announced the full schedule and new inclusions for this year’s festivities. Aside from the mainstay events for the GAF, such as the Saniata ti Nueva Vizcaya pageant, the Travel and Tourism Expo, the Bailes y Canciones, Gawang Vizcayano Exhibit and Trade Fair, and Grand Ammungan Concert, the festival will also include more performance- and service-based activities and events, such as the inclusion of Tugtugan sa Lagoon, “Aldaw ti Umili” blood donations and medical services, the streetdance competition, etc. Compared to previous years’ three-day festivities, the GAF 2026 has been extended to a five-day celebration, from May 20 to May 24, 2026.
The PTCO then reported on the presentation given by the National Library of the Philippines to the provincial government. With the inclusion of a public library now being a parameter in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the representatives of the National Library urged the then-participants to establish public libraries in each municipality and affiliate existing ones with the organization – a move that will count towards the focus area of Sustainable Education for the SGLG. As of the present, there are four public libraries in the province, only two of which were affiliated with the National Library. The council discussed at length the requirements and establishment of public libraries, as well as the avowals of future support by the National Library in this endeavor.
The regular commitment of the NVCCA will ensure the continuation and advancement of culture and arts in Nueva Vizcaya, allowing Novo Vizcayanos to develop and take pride in their own cultural identity. /igmb
