During the Investment Opportunities Forum held on December 16, 2025, the Provincial Cooperative and Development Enterprises Office (PROCEDE) also took the time to announce the winners of their Business Pitching competition, an initiative under the Livelihood Integration and Growth through Holistic Training (LIGHT) Project. The Business Pitching competition brought together three higher-education institutions (HEIs) in applying newfound knowledge to collapsible ergonomic furniture design.
The awarding is a culmination of a series of trainings enacted by PROCEDE for young Novo Vizcayanos from November 20 to December 5, 2025. The participating HEIs were PLT College Inc., Saint Mary’s University (SMU), and Aldersgate College Inc., with PLT College having two teams with different designs.
Coming in as third runner-up was PLT College Inc.’s Team 2 with their Adaptive, Height-Adjustable, and Expandable (AHAE) Chair. According to the team, it had been conceived with the issue of learning chairs being undersupplied across schools, as well as standardized chair sizes often being insufficient. PLT Team 2’s design included a wooden chair that could be expanded in width and height to accommodate any size for all users.
While the previous entries used reclaimed wood, the first runner-up SMU used natural materials such as bamboo in their space-saving furniture and storage design, with clear intent toward sustainability. However, it would be PLT College Inc.’s Team 2 who would be named Champion for their UNIBLOC design, which recycles plastic waste for multi-use paneled cubes.
PROCEDE’s Project LIGHT not only benefitted the working communities, but also tapped into the youth potential of the province. By engaging the students of the partner HEIs through learning and industry, the provincial government through PROCEDE has further empowered the youth of Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
