Gov-led PTGC declares Capitol lockdown

In its meeting held last January 11 at the Provincial Capitol, the Provincial Task Group on COVID-19 (PTGC) headed by Governor Carlos M. Padilla tackled updates on COVID-19 data, vaccination roll-out and its grassroots campaign, provincial border control policy, universal health care, contact tracing, isolation and quarantine protocols, and recent DILG issuances.

On account of the 44 newly registered COVID-19 cases the preceding day resulting in lockdowns of certain PGNV offices, Dr. Edwin B. Galapon, Provincial Integrated Health Office (PIHO) Chief, suggested a temporary Provincial Capitol lockdown, except for critical offices, effective January 12-14 to stem the increasing number of transmissions among employees and their family members, and cautioned against unnecessary travels outside their homes. This was unanimously carried.

As part of the safety measures adopted relative to people mobility, heads of workplaces and other establishments, as well as personnel manning checkpoints, are directed to require people entering or transacting in their areas of responsibility to present Vaccination Cards or RTPCR/RAT negative results pursuant to IATF-EID Resolution No. 148-B.

Governor Padilla took the occasion to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the DILG’s new building which has been set for January 12 and asked the PTGC members to join too.

The DILG also enjoined the PGNV, through the PDRRMO, to coordinate with the Office of the Civil Defense for the updating of its contingency and service continuity plans.

The special body then urged information officers and media practitioners to assist in the government’s IEC drives. This was also reiterated during the discussions on the implementation of the province’s Universal Health Care Plan.

Dr. Galapon said that the PIHO, lead office in health promotion and advocacy, will work in partnership with the PAIAD, the information and communication arm of the PGNV.
