Newly elected provincial leaders assume office

The new set of elected officials of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV), headed by incumbent and three-termer Governor Carlos M. Padilla, was sworn into office this morning, June 30, 2022, at the Nueva  Vizcaya Convention Center, Provincial Capitol, Bayombong.

Governor Padilla and Vice Governor Jose V. Gambito were inducted by Hon. Cicero B. Jandoc, Executive Judge of RTC-Bayombong, and Hon. Paul R. Attolba, Jr., Presiding Judge of Br. 30, RTC-Bayombong, respectively.

This was preceded by an ecumenical prayer jointly recited by the local heads of different churches in the province, and the ensuing mass oath-taking of members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan from the province’s North and South Districts which was administered by Hon. Dominica D. Rosario, Presiding Judge of Br. 27, RTC-Bayombong.

In his inaugural speech, Governor Padilla was optimistic about the performance of the new leadership and the career officials of the PGNV for the next three years despite the global and local uncertainties and challenges that they will be facing, such as the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Echoing the “call for unity”, which Vice Governor Gambito also pushed immediately after his proclamation by the COMELEC last month, Governor Padilla stressed that, indeed, the invaluable support of stakeholders embraces all the elements that will help the whole province in realizing the shared development aspirations of its leaders and people alike.

In line with that, he mentioned the forthcoming holding of joint executive and legislative sessions to finalize the development programs blueprint that was drafted by the heads of various PGNV offices alongside some leaders from the private sector.

He then proceeded to thank his fellow Novo Vizcayanos for their renewed votes of trust and confidence. He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all those who made the event a great success, despite the presence of his namesake “Caloy”, a tropical depression that has been causing some light to moderate rainfalls across the province since yesterday.

Provincial Director Maria Loida M. Urmatam of the DILG-NV Office oversaw the conduct of the solemn ceremony and the succeeding formal turning over of responsibilities to the inductees.

Also joining the day’s momentous provincial event, were family members of the installed leaders, national and local government officers, and principals of civil society organizations.

The Office of Provincial Administrator Maybelle Dumlao-Sevillena coordinated the preparations for the day’s event, in partnership with concerned PGNV offices which provided workforce and other logistical support.
