BIR Increases Digital Services

During the Flag Raising Ceremony on May 18, 2026, the Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office no. 14 – Nueva Vizcaya extended their campaign toward digitization to the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, citing their efforts to this end for the taxpayers of the province.

In 2026, the BIR recorded 16516 active business taxpayers – 15724 of which are individual taxpayers, and 1242 of which were non-individual entities. 15 processes conducted by the BIR have been certified by the International Standards Organization (ISO), with recertification set for October 2026.

The BIR campaigned for its e-services, citing the prediction that digitization will become the norm in 2028 and meeting the new standards with their e-lounge facility in the BIR office, to be used by their clients. Tax payments can be conducted both online and in-person, though online filings with attachments were declared to be obligatory.

Online safety with monetary transactions and services has become a concern, answered by the BIR in the form of online ‘badges’ on the social media pages of sellers, influencers, and content creators, which enable their BIR registration and activities to be viewable and verifiable. An individual can also verify their TIN ID on the eGovPh app.

The BIR expressed their hope to hit their target in collection performance, having reported a deficit in collections for the past year. In recent years, the BIR has recalled their municipal revenue collection officers back to the provincial office as necessitated by the digitization of taxpaying in the municipalities. As this has also necessitated the construction of a new facility, the BIR expressed their gratitude to Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito for his support of the construction of a four-story office building for BIR Nueva Vizcaya, the groundbreaking for which took place in March 2026.

For his part, Governor Gambito expressed an intention to honor the private citizen donors for the in-progress site and stated that the mutual support between the provincial government and the BIR will result in better conditions for the workers and by extension the constituency. /igmb
