Ammungan 2026 Celebrates Novo Vizcayano Spirit

As Nueva Vizcaya marks the celebration of the 17th Grand Ammungan Festival alongside the province’s 187th Founding Anniversary, Governor Jose V. Gambito called on Novo Vizcayanos to reflect on the enduring strength and courage that continue to define the province and its people.

Gov. Gambito emphasized that the history of Nueva Vizcaya is deeply rooted in the resilience of its citizens, whose perseverance has enabled the province to overcome trials while preserving its culture and heritage. “Fellow Novo Vizcayanos, as we gather for the 17th Grand Ammungan Festival, we do so with hearts full of gratitude and immense pride in the soul of our province,” the governor said.

He described the province’s vibrant traditions as a “living testament” to the endurance of its people, noting that despite the ongoing energy crisis, Novo Vizcayanos have remained steadfast in protecting their ancestral lands, natural resources, and cultural identity.

Meanwhile, Board Member Eunice Galima-Gambol, Director-General of the 17th Grand Ammungan Festival, said that this year’s Ammungan may be modest in form, but it carries a deeper mission of uplifting communities and creating meaningful impact for Novo Vizcayanos. “Though simple in form, it carries a deeper purpose—one that uplifts, unites, and creates lasting value for our people,” she said.

She emphasized that organizers chose to hold a celebration grounded in meaning and service amid present challenges, ensuring that every activity contributes positively to the welfare of the people. Anchored on the spirit of “Napintas a Nueva Vizcaya” and guided by the vision of a “Naturally Vibrant Nueva Vizcaya,” Galima-Gambol expressed hope that the festival would serve as a symbol of resilience and unity for the province. “May this celebration serve as a symbol of our resilience, a source of hope, and a testament to what we can achieve when we stand together as one,” she said.

This year’s celebration, according to Gov. Gambito, embraces simplicity and sincerity as symbols of collective strength rather than limitation. He stressed that the true grandeur of Nueva Vizcaya lies not in extravagance, but in the unity of its people and their unwavering faith in God. “It is His grace that has sustained us, and His light that guides us as we navigate the challenges of our time,” he added. The governor further urged Novo Vizcayanos to continue moving forward together strengthened by adversity, anchored by faith, and united by love for the province.

The Grand Ammungan Festival remains one of Nueva Vizcaya’s most significant cultural celebrations, showcasing the province’s rich heritage, indigenous traditions, artistry, and community spirit. This year’s observance reflects not only festivity, but also the enduring determination of Novo Vizcayanos to rise above challenges while preserving the identity and values that bind them together as one province. /bgl
