NV registers the highest number of AICS payees

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) simultaneously launched nationwide on August 20, 2022 the distribution of cash to qualified beneficiaries under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

PDOII Jane A. Pumaras, Sustainable Livelihood Program Provincial Coordinator, reported during the flag-hoisting ceremony of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) held on August 22, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol that the AICS payout team led by SWOII Rochelle I. Pundunan, SWAD-NV Team Leader, has served 1,927 applicants.

“This is the highest registered number in the whole Region for the first AICS payout, which is almost 1/3 of the cumulative regional figure of 5,919”, she declared. “The amounts disbursed in the five provinces of Region 02 totaled P15,434,000”, she added.

The SWAD-NV personnel have also attributed their relatively productive performance to the reinforcements sent by the different national law enforcement and relief agencies, which were further augmented by the task forces mobilized by the PGNV.

According to them, the AICS program’s one-time payouts for students were set to be undertaken every Saturday and will last until September 24 this year.

The amount of assistance, they said, varies depending on the level of education of the beneficiaries, to wit: Elementary, P1,000; Junior High School, P2,000; Senior High School, P3,000; and Vocational/College, P4,000.

They explained that the students who are entitled to receive cash assistance include: breadwinners; working students; those who have no family or living with a relative; those whose parents have no source of living; children of Persons with Disability (PWDs), solo parents, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and HIV patients; and victims of domestic abuse and natural disasters.

They also clarified that “Only three children per family are qualified to apply and register for this educational assistance program. 4Ps beneficiaries, and those students who have scholarship grants and sponsorships from the DOST and DSWD, or similar assistance from other agencies are not included therein.”

For the succeeding Saturdays after the first payout held at the Clisoc Field, Bayombong, the applicants were told to just register online and wait for their notices on the next steps to be undertaken. The payouts were also set to be executed on a per municipality basis by the SWAD-NV focal persons in tandem with their counterpart MSWDO staff right at the latter’s respective offices.

On their priority lists, however, are those qualified applicants not served during the first payout but duly endorsed to their respective municipalities.

The online registrants come next in line, but the number of those who will be receiving cash assistance depends on the remaining municipal allotments.
