Spirited celebration unites hearts of Solanoans

In a jubilant display of unity and pride, the Municipality of Solano marked its 163rd Founding Anniversary and 15th Pagbiagan Festival from September 29 to October 2, 2023. Under the visionary leadership of Mayor Atty. Philip A. Dacayo, Vice Mayor Eduardo DL Tiongson, and the dedicated members of the Sangguniang Bayan, this year’s celebration left an indelible mark on the hearts of Solanoans.

The festivities commenced on September 29, 2023, with a soul-stirring ecumenical service held at the Tomas Dacayo Community Center that set the tone for the celebration, emphasizing the theme, “Pusong Solanoan, Diwang Bayanihan”.

The activities lined up for the festival were designed to cater to the diverse interests of Solano’s residents.

Musical talents from various schools took center stage in the drum and lyre competition, filling the air with melodious rhythms.

Underscoring the festival’s commitment to improving the lives of the community, a job fair and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license renewal services were made available for those in need.

Adding a splash of nostalgia to the affair, a retro Zumba competition got everyone grooving, while the battle of the bands showcased the town’s musical prowess.

Automotive enthusiasts were treated to a thrilling auto-moto show, and skateboarders demonstrated their skills in an adrenaline-packed event.

Behind the scenes, Municipal Councilor Ma. Regina M. Valino-Valdez served as the Director General of the festival. Her unwavering dedication and meticulous planning were instrumental in bringing this grand celebration to life and a great success.

In his heartfelt address to his constituents, Mayor Dacayo said, “Patuloy nating ipagmalaki ang ating pagiging Solanoan at palakasin ang ating pagkakaisa para sa mas makabuluhang kinabukasan” (Let us continue to take pride in being Solanoans and strengthen our unity for a more meaningful future). His words resonated, emphasizing the significance of community bonds and shared heritage.

As the festival reached its climax, a grand parade on October 2, 2023, captivated the streets of Solano. Marching bands and enthusiastic participants showcased the town’s rich history and vibrant culture.

The Pagbiagan Festival was indeed more than a commemoration of Solano’s history, as it served as a testament to the resilience, unity, and boundless spirit of the Solanoans, and a living example of the timeless notion that when hearts come together with a common purpose, great things can really happen.
