NVAG paints NVCC mural

By on August 29, 2019

Engaged by the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) on 26 July, the select members of the Nueva Vizcaya Arts Guild (NVAG) commenced on 15 August their actual work on the proposed mural on the lobby wall of the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center (NVCC), Provincial Capitol, Bayombong.

“The time lag is due to the series of brainstorming sessions that we had with concerned PGNV officials headed by Governor Carlos M. Padilla, along with former Governor and incumbent Provincial Tourism Council Chairperson Ruth Raña Padilla, the main proponent of the artwork project for the NVCC”, said NVAG member Rommel L. Manzano.

It will be recalled that the NVCC is one among the flagship infrastructure projects of the administration of Mrs. Padilla that are being continued by the present leadership.

“The mural’s theme features the Province’s diverse culture and some of its renowned natural and man-made landmarks”, declared NVAG’s James G. Magalued. “Barring unforeseen circumstances, we’ll be able to finish it by 15 September,” he added.

The other members of the NVAG work team are Joji M. Espino, Zoila T. Albano, Marlin C. Lopez, Roberto P. Acosta, Elmer T. Albano, Felix D. Abesamis, and Dexter C. Bigayan.

“Our organizational structure is flat as we don’t have any officers because we consider ourselves co-equals”, they all acknowledged.

In coming up with a single masterpiece, which is practically a collage of their diverse art styles and idiosyncrasies, these homegrown masters of art are indeed modeling “unity amidst diversity” that is akin to the unique situation of the Province, being a melting pot of different but peacefully co-existing ethnolinguistic groups.
