DTI joins simultaneous inspection of steel bars
Through a directive issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Consumer Protection Group Region II, its provincial counterpart joined the simultaneous on-the spot inspection of steel bars in various hardware stores in the province last July 5.
Headed by Preciosa Maglaya, DTI-NV Chief Trade and Industry Development Specialist and Enforcement Team Leader, together with the members, Lucia Guerrero and Rashid Bautista, the team inspected a total of 10 hardware stores in Bayombong, Bambang, Solano and Bagabag.
According to Maglaya, the steel bars were found to have the required embossed logos on 8mm, 10mm, 12 mm and 16mm deformed steel bars.
“Overall, all hardware stores visited were selling certified deformed steel bars and no notice of violation were issued,” said Maglaya in a report.
After the compliance inspection, hardware store owners were also provided with the list of approved logos for rerolled and deformed steels bars and equal leg angle bars for guidance. # krizel with reports from Preciosa A. Maglaya
