AMIS Project Piloted in NV
The focal person and some technical staff of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service of the Department of Agriculture (AMAS-DA) met with Governor Carlos M. Padilla, along with Provincial Agriculturist Alexander B. Domingo, Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT) Manager Guilbert B. Cumila and some Agriculture Sector leaders of the Province, on 11 March at the Nueva Vizcaya Livelihood and Pasalubong Center (NVLPC) in Magsaysay, Bayombong, which is part of the preparatory activities relative to the piloting of Nueva Vizcaya for the Agency’s Agribusiness Market Information System (AMIS) Project.
The AMIS, a database system that stores and manages supply, demand and price data of selected commodities in certain locations for specific period/s, hopes to determine the factors affecting imbalances between supply and demand so that the Government, both national and local, will be able to provide more appropriate developmental interventions. The Project will cover the entire country and runs for a period of 5 years, after which, it shall continue as a regular activity of the DA and its counterpart offices in the LGUs.
The meeting focused on the proposed timetable of the series of interventions for the piloting endeavor, commencing from the Orientation of Agriculture Extension Workers on 12 March up to 01 June, which is the expected date for the Rolling Out of the AMIS.
During the Team members’ stay in the Province from 11 to 14 March, they will also be conducting System Pre-testing, which aims to assess the appropriateness and reliability of the Survey Instrument that will be used for the data gathering facility of the AMIS. #jlc
