Tourism hold lecture on Cultural Heritage Protection
Bayombong – The provincial government through the Tourism Division of the Office of the Governor held a “Lecture on Declaration of Important Cultural Property” yesterday at the People’s Museum at the Old Capitol Building.
The lecture was intended to ensure the protection, preservation and sustainability of the rich cultural heritages and treasures of the country. According to Carmencita Mariano of the Cultural properties Division of the National Museum of the Philippines, “considering that our country is endowed with rich natural and cultural heritage represented by numerous cultural properties, we need to manage them all properly for the present and future generations to appreciate.”
Looking at the Cultural and Heritage Map of the Philippines, the province had only one National Cultural treasure. The Parish Church of San Vicente Ferrer in the municipality of Dupax Del Sur is presently protected and preserved by the National Museum after its declaration last July 31, 2001.
Mariano challenged the officials of the provincial government to make necessary actions to determine local cultural treasures and heritages. “Kapag po kasi madaming lugar na nasa mapa natin promoting our tourism industry will be much easier because by word of mouth po lamang ay kakalat ang magagandang salita about Nueva Vizcaya na siyang manghihikayat ng mga turista na bumisita dito sa lugar ninyo,” she ended. #jeremy
