PA appeals for support in the GEHM

On March 7, 2023, Provincial Administrator (PA) Maybelle Dumlao-Sevillena released a Memorandum on “Panawagan para suportahan ang Earth Hour 2023” urging all officials and employees of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) to participate in the celebration of the Global Earth Hour Movement (GEHM) on March 25, 2023, along with all the countries around the world.

Earth Hour, organized by World Wild Fund (WWF), formerly known as World Wildlife Fund, is a global grassroots movement uniting people to take action on environmental issues and protect the planet. Engaging a massive mainstream community, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then, it has grown to engage millions of supporters in more than 185 countries and territories, inspiring individuals and organizations worldwide to take action for the environment, and driving major legislative changes by harnessing the power of the crowd. As the movement grows, the one-hour lights out event continues to be the symbol of a broader commitment toward nature and our planet.

According to PA Sevillena, this movement allows us to immediately promote the advocacy of addressing the greatest challenges regarding our environment and to awaken the consciousness of all government leaders around the world to decide on a new global action plan for Mother Nature.

All PGNV officials and employees are therefore encouraged to join in the celebration of Earth Hour 2023 by turning off the lights in their households for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM on March 25, 2023. They can document this event through photo or video and send to endivionenro@gmail.com. All lights at the Capitol Compound, the Nueva Vizcaya Sports Complex and Lower Magat Eco Tourism Park in Diadi, should likewise be turned off at the same time and day. #mvs
