PopCom-R02 celebrates the birthday of NV’s “100 Millionth Baby”

Herita O. Macarubbo, Regional Director of PopCom-Region 02, and Elvira G. Tongson, Nueva Vizcaya’s Population Division Chief, spearheaded a visit to the residence of Jharley M. Ang in Tuao North, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on 27 July, his 7th birthday.

Jharley is one among the six (6) symbolic ‘100 millionth’ babies in Region 02 when the country’s population reached 100 million seven (7) years ago. There were 100 of them born within just seconds past midnight on that day in state hospitals across 19 cities and 81 provinces.

The PopCom, in partnership with its counterpart local officials, has been monitoring the growth and development of the ‘100 millionth’ babies since their birth. “This is to determine the type of support in terms of nutrition, education, and health services, among others, that still need to be extended to our nation’s ‘symbolic’ babies and their respective families in the coming years,” Macarubbo disclosed.

Macarubbo also said that their office has mobilized its full personnel complement just to make sure that the symbolic “100 millionth” babies in the region are visited and given some presents.

Meanwhile, Bagabag Mayor Johnny M. Sevillena who also graced the occasion pledged to provide a full scholarship to Jharley as he starts his journey towards achieving his dreams.

This year’s celebration has adopted the theme, “Pagpapaunlad sa Pamilya: Tungo sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay”. #mccd
