It is waste workers day-off! Around 250 barangay and municipal street sweepers, enforcers, garbage collectors, and drivers are invited at the Provincial Capitol on April 21 to be treated with free medical and dental check-ups and anti-tetanus vaccine at the Provincial Health Office. Free hair-cuts for the waste workers were also provided by some inmates at the Provincial Jail. Simultaneously, livelihood trainings on waste processing were also demonstrated to the waste workers that may help them earn extra income.

These activities are part of the Earth Day celebration in the province spearheaded by the Environment and Natural Resources office and the Mother Earth Foundation.

This day-off for the waste workers were sponsored by Gov. Ruth Raña Padilla. The Governor believes that these waste workers have a very important role in the community by maintaining cleanliness, proper disposal of garbage and effort to implement zero waste management.

Parlor games and contests were also enjoyed by the waste workers at the Ammungan Hall. Packs of grocery items were also distributed to all the participants. Three units of tri-bikes will also be given to lucky waste workers. #bg
